Opera y Flamenco by Victoria

Last night we went to the Palau de la Musica and saw a music performance that was half Opera and half Flamenco dancing. It was really cool to see two opposite styles of music brought together in a unique and fun way. The male opera singer had a tremendous stage presence. When he was singing a duet he definitely overpowered his partner with his range.
I know now why people get very emotional in this building. It is a wonderful piece of art that is completely inspired by music.
It was wonderful to see two Spanish traditions brought together.

  1. Gosh V, how exciting was that! I love Opera, my Grandmother always listened to Italian Opera on the radio and even though I didn't understand all the words you could follow the story. Singing Opera is like a great talent and to see that with another great talent like flamenco dancing also very difficult must have been great :-)

  2. V, this is great writing. John came in and read over my shoulder and said "Is that Victoria's writing?". We both think you are sounding very author-ish with the way you are crafting your reflections on the things you have done in Barcelona. We love that city. It was where we went on our first date so it will always be a special place for us and we are loving seeing a whole new side of it through your eyes. After we read about the opera, we went back to Harry's post about the crepes. Mmmmmm.....crepes..... :)

  3. ditto to Miss Sonya. I was thinking the same.Such the word craft master... keep it going. It did sound like a great blend of all things Spanish. It's wonderful to be able to appreciate all the aspects that bring those art forms together.

That looks amazing! I bet it looks better in person. What has been your favorite part of the trip? Are they better than Opera Idaho. It looks like a great performance!
