FCBarcelona rules! by Harry

Tonight we watched FC Barcelona on TV. I think Messi is the best foot ball player in the world (fact). This is a video my mom found for me of last year when FC Barcelona played and beat Real Madrid :) I love how the artist did the people in the video. This is one of my favorite videos in the world because if you look you can see the numbers on the players shirts and I love how I could recognize their faces. I think this video is very creative. I hope you like it too. 

fall has come to Barcelona by V & H

Yesterday we went down to walk on the beach and we saw that all the drift wood had washed up to shore because it was windy out. The wind made all the drift wood wash ashore. We made a hut out of the sticks with a floor and a roof made up of drift wood. Thanks to me! Well.. and Harry. I had a great time making the fort and playing on the beach. I hope our fort survived the night.

Yesterday my sister and I made a bamboo hut. I made the structure and my sister made the floor. It was cooler out than usual. The only people in the water were surfers. I had a great time on the beach :)

The Dragon Gate of Finca Guell by Victoria

 This gate we call the "Gaudi Gate". It's based on Greek Mythology.  Antoni Gaudi designed it for the Guell family's summer home. The gate was welded together with the use of electricity which was novel at the time (1884). The gate represents a poem where Hercules tries to get past the dragon to get oranges to conquer the heart of the queen. 


The dragon looked like it could have been made from recycled materials. I also thought that this gate looked like it should be on an evil queen's castle. It would have been cool if it could move. This is another example of Gaudi's genius.

Cosmo Caixa Science Museum by Harry and Victoria

 Yesterday we went to the science museum in Barcelona. I really started thinking about Newtons Laws of Motion. I think I get all three now. I am still trying to get Einstein's E=MC2 in a simple way. Did you know the speed of light is 300,000,000 m/s? That's really fast.


Anyway, we had a great time and I'm glad we went.

 At the science museum yesterday there was an amazing rainforest. It had aquatic life, plants, birds, insects, and a mammal (a tapir). It as a great way to experience a rainforest if you have never been to one.

The Eiffel Tower by Victoria

I think they call this elevator the Eiffel tower of terror!

Nothing can compare to the view on the top of the Eiffel Tower at night. It is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of a giant Where's Waldo book because when you are on the top you try to find all the famous sites from the Louvre to the Arch de Triumph. The lines are also one of a kind. There is a line every where on the eiffle tower for every thing. Which means a lot of waiting.

On every hour the Eiffel tower does a dazzling light show to dazzle the eyes of tourists and locals alike. We were some how fortunate to see the light show right at the base of the Eiffel tower. I think they knew we were coming to the Eiffel tower so they lit it up just for us.

haircut barcelona by Harry

The other day got my hair cut in a peluquero. It was by one of our favorite restaurants Quinze  Nits. The man did my hair with just a comb and a pair of scissors. It was the best haircut I ever got.

Centre Pompidou in Paris by Harry

We are back in Barcelona after a long weekend in Paris...

The Pompidou is the home of the modern art museum in Paris. It was named after Georges Pompidou who was the president of France from 1969 to 1974. It was my favorite museum in Paris.

 I love modern art and I liked the modern look of the building with the tubes on the side. 

The museum had a lot of Kadinsky paintings. Kadinsky is one of my favorite artists. I did a report on him in art for Mr. Jay and it was great to see so many of the paintings I had learned about.

 This is a very cool painting. It looks like it has circles, but it is really just parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and intersecting lines. You'll be able to see it if you blow up the picture.

 Here's another painting that is an example of tessellation.
